The sculpture ‘The Great Mother’ is inspired by one of humanity’s most ancient archetypes – the image of the primordial mother, the guardian of life and the creator of the world. In Trypillian culture, the female figure symbolised the fertility of the earth, the continuation of the lineage, prosperity and harmony between humankind and nature.
The simple form and symbolic ornamentation reflect a connection with ancient traditions and beliefs about the feminine principle as a source of strength, wisdom and rebirth. ‘The Great Mother’ embodies care, protection and the eternal cycle of life.
