The Trypillian Madonna ‘The Great Mother’

The sculpture ‘The Great Mother’ depicts the Great Mother – an ancient symbol of birth, fertility and the continuity of life. Trypillian Madonnas: ‘Mistresses of Fertility’

The ‘Mistresses of Fertility’ sculptures are inspired by the image of an ancient goddess who, in the cultures of agricultural peoples, was a symbol of abundance, prosperity and the birth of new life. In the Trypillian tradition, the feminine principle was revered as the source of creation, and the earth as the greatest value and the foundation of well-being.
