In agrarian cultures, grain was a symbol of life, the continuity of the family line and the annual rebirth of nature, whilst the feminine principle personified the ability to give, nurture and multiply.
The sculpture’s ornamentation serves as a reminder of humanity’s sacred connection with the earth and its gifts. ‘Mother of Grain’ is a symbol of generosity, prosperity and deep gratitude to nature, which bestows life from generation to generation.
