Sculptural candlestick ‘The Ox Lifting the Light’
Chamotte clay, copper oxide, glaze
The ox symbolises endurance, strength, loyalty and stable prosperity. Its form conveys a sense of support and reliability. It is an image of labour that nourishes, strength that protects, and patience that drives us forward.
The candlestick features a mirror that amplifies the light of the flame, creating a sense of depth and space. The reflected light multiplies, as if expanding the boundaries of warmth and comfort.
The body of the ox and the reverse side of the mirror are adorned with svargas — ancient solar symbols from Ukrainian tradition, signifying the movement of the sun, vital energy and harmony.

Trypillian Madonnas: ‘Mistresses of Fertility’
The ‘Mistresses of Fertility’ sculptures are inspired by the image of an ancient goddess who, in the cultures of agricultural peoples, was a symbol of abundance, prosperity and the birth of new life. In the Trypillian tradition, the feminine principle was revered as the source of creation, and the earth as the greatest value and the foundation of well-being.
The soft forms and symbolic ornamentation emphasise the connection with the cycles of nature, the earth’s bounty and the power of motherhood. The sculpture serves as a reminder of humanity’s harmony with nature and of life’s eternal capacity to be reborn.
